In 2007 I started my own private therapy practice, Forest Alliance Coaching.
I provide counseling, life coaching, educational coaching, nature therapy, and diagnose all types of learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADD/ADHD, Asperger's).
Nature or Forest Therapy is a research-based therapy that supports healing and wellness through the immersion in the woods or other natural environments.
Animal-Assisted Therapy is a complementary therapy used to facilitate emotional healing and support in sessions. I have been using my adult dog, Mai Ling for animal-assisted therapy for a few years now. Recently I added two puppies and in the process of training them. To learn more about them visit the Shadow Scout page!
At the beginning of 2013 I founded Decoding Dyslexia Ohio - a grassroots movement across the U.S. that spreads awareness of dyslexia. This is the most recent picture of our Decoding Dyslexia State Leaders.
Each year I go to Washington D.C. and meet with Ohio Congressmen/women. During these meetings I shine a light on dyslexia and the need to include children with all types of learning disabilities. I educate them on Orton-Gillingham Reading approaches.
Work hard to make sure that children with dyslexia and other learning disabilities are appropriately educated. Therefore, met with Kimberly Richey as Assistant Secretary for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services and Ruth Ryder, the Deputy Director of the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), U.S. Department of Education.
